Can i change my MOS after I already re-enlisted?
Johnny asked:
I re-enlisted in June of 07 , I see that my mos is going know were and i want to get of it. Right now I am a 94R (aircraft survivability equipment repairer) I want to re-class to 31B (MP) because i want to go CID and or law enforcement after i get out, so i want the experience so when i get i can do law enforcement. I got a bonus of $10719 so if i re-class do i have to pay back by bonus?? Please if you can help or send me a link i would appriciate it.

For starters…You will probably have to repay but I am not sure on that, talk to your unit retention officer.
I think that you may have missed your opportunity this time.
You may have to wait untill your next re-enlistment opportunity.
If I could redo my service, I would do MP also, but rather than CID, I suggest bomb squad.
This may be a equal trade for transfer.
Why aren’t you talking to the personnel people?
Like anything else in the service you can request it, and it may get approved; sometimes things that seem far-fetched even get approved.
Did the Bonus come lump-sum?? or comes like 1/2 then the other 1/2 spread across the years??
and the fact it was an approved request, I doubt it, especially since the MP’s likewise probably get an equivlent bonus.
you don’t necessarily have to pay it back it depends on what the bonus was for…. was it just for reenlisting or did you get it just because of your mos. i would talk to personal. but either way with your military experience alone you will already have an advantage going into law enforcement.
good luck and god bless
