Describe the day-day life of 15u, Chinook repairer/crew, please?

Ryan S asked:

Heres whats online:
# Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies such as engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components
# Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems
# Prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks
# Perform scheduled inspections and assist in performing special inspections
# Inspect and repair aircraft wings, fuselages and tail assemblies
# Perform limited maintenance operational checks and assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting aircraft subsystems using special tools and equipment as required

Generally, how much opportunity is there to be on the flight crew? Opportunities to advance? Enjoyable? What is AIT for the MOS like? What are some of the procedures and skills taught? Joining the NG and currently waiting for waiver approval for joining an aviation unit.

Normally after your training and at your normal duty location you will be assigned to the maintenance platoon, there you will work on the chinook daily to gain experience, normally after about a year or two you can apply to go to flight platoon to become a crew member
