I never took calc. in HS, (not good in math) Do have chance for mech engineering?

scotty asked:

I currently work as an A&P aircraft mechanic. I recently finished BS of science. I love what the mechanical engineers do where I work. I always question why something is the way it is (ie. design, materials used, limits, problem solving). Its great working on aircraft, but having dealing in repairs or changes interest me.

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. Do any of you have experience with these? Which has the best real world aapplication as i’m joining the air guard and not active duty?? And so on… Thanks!
At this point I haven’t been able to narrow them down very well despite my research. The descriptions on these jobs are very vague, and I still have very little idea what I would be doing.

The reason for posting all that were available to me is for the hope that somebody has some experience with one, or two, or however many of these and can perhaps shed some light on their job duties and any other useful info.

man2190 asked:

i need help with this project anyone i will award 100 points if answered correctly by posting multiple questions and choosing whoever gets the right answer.
i have a hydraulics test to make in which my teacher has asked this question several times but no one has ever passed it in the last five years the question is what would happen if u as an aircraft Mechanic make a repair on a tube line in an aircraft and suddenly the airplane happens to crash. The federal Aviation Administration A.k.a (FAA) has to blame on someone and they will come searching for u and You will have to explain to them with written paperwork that ur Repair was not the cause of the crash what will u writte down as an explanation?

This question is for anyone with aircraft knowledge however anyone that puts some kind of resource as a website will be awaded. THanks to anyone that tries tough this question has never been answered before on the last five years. this question happens to be the whole test.

Working swing shifts at the airport?

Seth asked:

To all who work all hours at the airport: I applied for a Aircraft Fueler position. Basically the position involves refuiling the planes and making sure the equipment and the work area is clean.

All my jobs thus far have been cubicle positions, which I have hated. I want to do this job because it pays decent, and because I don’t like jobs, especially cubicle positions, where people gossip and are downright rude to each other.

The question is are there certain things that I am overlooking in this airport position, besides the late hours etc?

What do you think of this one? Do you have a great joke today?

Tabor asked:

A helicopter was flying around above Seattle yesterday when an electrical
malfunction disabled all of the aircraft’s electronic navigation and
communications equipment.

Due to the clouds and haze, the pilot could not determine the helicopter’s
position and course to steer to the airport.

The pilot saw a tall building, flew toward it, circled, drew a handwritten
sign, and held it in the helicopter’s window. The pilot’s sign said “WHERE AM
I?” in large letters.

People in the tall building quickly responded to the aircraft, drew a large
sign, and held it in a building window. Their sign said “YOU ARE IN A
HELICOPTER.”

The pilot smiled, waved, looked at his map, determined the course to steer
to SEATAC airport, and landed safely.

After they were on the ground, the co-pilot asked the pilot how the “YOU ARE
IN A HELICOPTER” sign helped determine their position in Seatle.

The pilot responded “I knew that had to be the MICROSOFT building because,
similar to their help-lines, they gave me a technically correct but completely
useless answer.”

Return to the gate to Refuel?

Jeremy asked:

Our aircraft was waiting to depart for about 40 minutes actively taxiing when we returned to the gate because the pilot said he did not have enough fuel. Has this ever happened? Any reasons for it? Whose fault is the miscalculation?
We ended up leaving JFK 3 hours late because of this mistake. It was a 4 hour flight and the equipment was a 757 the airline American Air.
